Why We Care
MTN partners with local Elementary Students, Nursing Homes and VA Hospitals throughout NJ to promote education and community service. Students are given the opportunity to make homemade Valentine Cards as part of their writing assignments during Language Arts and Art Class. We take those same students on visits to local Nursing Homes and VA Hospitals providing residents and patients with a teddy bear, baked treat, lap blanket and homemade card. The joy this simple project brings is so worthwhile. So often our seniors and veterans are forgotten. MTN started Bears of Care as a way to brighten the day of those in nursing homes and hospitals, to remind them they haven't been forgotten and to show our love and appreciation. It was also to allow students the opportunity to experience compassion, show empathy, use communication/public speaking, while understanding the importance of how a small act of kindness can really brighten someone's day.
Sometimes we forget our seniors and veterans in nursing homes and VA hospitals. But they need love too! Join in restoring the feeling of Valentines day to them by the gift of a homemade card, lap blanket and stuffed bear.
MTN is dedicated to making sure they are not forgotten and ALWAYS feel loved.
CREATE A CARD
If you are a teacher, troop leader or want your child to make a card for this event, please send an email about your willingness to participate.
Keep in mind it doesn't stop at just making a card, we invite you to come with us and help distribute.
The residents and patients love to receive a visit from members of the community and we encourage the children to help us put smiles on faces this Valentines Day.

For our visits we need your help to provide each resident
and patient a special gift to go along with their home made valentine card.
Donations of $15 can be made by clicking
DONATE TOWARDS A BEAR. Each donation provides a dozen bears for distribution.
Every resident and patient visited will receive a bear, lap blanket and card combination.
Your donation allows residents and patients the feeling of true Valentines joy. Our goal is to let them know they are LOVED and NEVER forgotten.
